Plumbing fixtures are often guaranteed for 10 years or more.
The major manufactures have 800 numbers for technical support and/or
parts replacement. The majority of the time that folks need these numbers,
they can't find them, (their on the box that you threw away). Some of them,
some of the time, will help you diagnose your problem and will send you an
amazing array of repair parts free. If you have to pay, you will be sure
you're using authentic factory parts, and the price & shipping costs are not
unreasonable. If you can wait for the parts to arrive, (i.e. water isn't spewing
out everywhere), you may want to give them a call and try to correct the
problem yourself. One thing that you gave to keep in mind, the folks
answering the phone are not plumbers. They may know as much, (or less),
about a particular product than you do.
Also, all of the major brands, Delta, Moen, Price Pfister, etc... usually have 3
brands of their product lines. The low ends are obviously the least
expensive. The high ends are usually solid brass, (you could use a
vegetable sprayer on a kitchen faucet for a weapon). A lot of them look the
same, the difference is in the quality of the materials used for construction.
Like my Dad used to say, if it's heavy, it's expensive.
